Reflections

As you might recall, my reading goal for 2923 was 100 books, and after reaching that I planned for the goal to be the same for 2024. But things didn’t necessarily go as planned, like usual. While I began the year with a reading goal 100 books, I was almost double my reading pacing, so I decided to double my reading goal to 200, not the smartest decision… Obviously I was unable to keep up with the pace, and I quickly fell behind. But alas, I decided to change my goal to something a little more manageable, 150 books. And while I might not have actually reached this goal either, I read 120 books this year, 87 of which were physical/digital, the other 33 being audiobooks. While I did fall quite short of my reading goal, I read 17 more books than last year, which is a truly amazing thing. While goal setting can be difficult, especially as the year ends and not all goals are always met, finding the progress made and recognizing the journey is important. While I may not have read quite as many books as I planned on reading in 2024, I did find many books that represented me in ways that I never thought possible, and for that I’m a forever grateful.

Goals

As one chapter closes, a new one opens, both in books and life. As 2024 comes to an end, thinking to next year and my reading goals is inevitable. This year, I plan to be a little more strategic with my goal setting, and pick a reading goal that while challenging, is attainable. Next year, I hope to read 130 books, and I hope that 30 of those will be audiobooks. But life is about more than just the numbers. While we can set goal after goal, hoping to reach certain reading stats, there’s more to books than that. Next year, I hope to find more books that truly highlight diversity, and to share them with you all. I want to be more selective with what I read, I make sure it’s something I will truly enjoy before I put my time into it. I want to be okay with DNFing books, because not every book is made for me. I want to focus more on reading books that represent who I am as a person, and empower me to be the person I want to be. And with that, those are my goals for 2025, I can’t wait to see you next year to see how I did!

Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who’s supported my reading journey this year! My blog and bookstagram has grown so much (even going viral once! 😳) and I couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you supporting me along the way. Thank you so much, and as always, happy reading!
