What’s it about?

Cyra and Akos are enemies by birth. Cyra’s touch can bring horrible pain, a power her tyrannical brother wields mercilessly. When Akos is captured, he is forced to serve Cyra. Their hatred for each other might kill them, but not if they fight back. Their adventure forces them to make difficult choices, even if it means betraying their families and countries.

My Rating

Rating: 2 out of 5.

I didn’t enjoy this read very much. The only reason it was saved from a 1-star rating was because the plot was fairly unique.

What I loved

I liked the idea and the plot. It was overall pretty unique and interesting, just not my cup of tea.

What I Disliked

I kinda disliked everything in the book 😬. It honestly just wasn’t for me. The characters were strangely written, and the world-building was confusing at some points. I only read this book because Veronica Roth wrote it, but it definitely wasn’t worth my time.

I went into this read with fairly high expectations. It sounded amazing, and I loved absolutely loved Divergent! This may be part of the reason I disliked the book, but I don’t think it made a huge impact in my enjoyment.

Book vs. Movie

There isn’t a movie for this book!

Should You Read It?

Ummm, no? I didn’t really enjoy this read, even though I enjoy almost every book I read. I wouldn’t really recommend this book to anyone, but if you think the plot sounds good go ahead and try it!

Conclusion

Carve the Mark is a sci-fi novel about Cyra and Akos fighting back against all that is wrong and corrupt in their world. I did not enjoy this book for many reasons, but the plot was unique. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this book, but you could still give it a read! Happy reading!!!
