Dystopian is one of my most read genres! Here’s a list of all my favs and why they deserve to be read! The list will continue to grow, so be sure to check back for more! Happy reading!!!

June’s from the Ruby Sector, an elite district that houses only the wealthiest of the Republic. Day is from the Lake Sector, the slums that are constantly ravaged by the plague. He’s the Republic’s most wanted criminal, only no one knows what he looks like. When June’s brother is killed, the number one suspect is Day. June goes undercover on a dangerous mission to capture Day, but along the way she begins to see a different side of the Republic, and questions the foundations her beliefs were built on.

Legend will always have a very special place in my heart because it got me into the YA genre, and got me out of my re-reading cycle!! This book is a perfect choice for fans of The Hunger Games or any dystopian book!!

There’s no hunger, disease, or war, and there’s no death. In a world where humanity has conquered death, it’s up to Scythes and only Scythes to keep the population in check. Citra and Rowan never wanted to be chosen to apprentice a Scythe, but they are. Together, they learn the art of death, and they are thrown into a life they never expected they’d lead. But only too soon do they realize that the power to end human life comes with an even greater burden.

Scythe is an incredibly unique and thought provoking novel! It really makes you look at the world differently! This book is perfect for people who like to ponder the world, or if you just want a unique read!!

The games have begun. In Panem, 24 kids are chosen to fight to the death. Only one will make it out alive. The Capitol keeps the 12 districts in check by forcing each of them to send one boy and one girl to compete in the Hunger Games every year. When Katniss’s little sister is chosen, she volunteers to take her place. She thinks it’s a death sentence, but she soon realizes she might actually have a shot at getting back to her family. But does she have what it takes to survive?

The Hunger Games is the edge of your seat kind of read! It was truly revolutionary at the time, since there has never been such a violent YA book before. This book has aged wonderfully and is a truly iconic book that you must read! Also, this book is also classified as a sci-fi novel, but I decided to put it on my dystopian book rec page!

Every girl wants to be chosen for The Selection. After all, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime. 35 girls will get to live at the palace and compete to win the charming Prince Maven’s heart. While most girls would kill to be part of the selection, it’s America Singer’s worst nightmare. She already has her life planned out, and a boy from home already owns her heart. But when she is chosen, she eventually begins to dream of what life could be like if she won.

The Selection is a fun, lighthearted, quick read! This book was super exciting, I read it in one sitting! This novel is great if you want a fun romance mixed with some interesting political challenges!

Thomas doesn’t know how or why he is here. None of the boys do. The boys in the Glade have their own seemingly normal community, except for the fact that there is a giant maze. The maze changes every night, and if you are caught inside when it closes, you don’t make it out alive. Everyday the Gladers attempt to solve the mystery of the maze, and get out of the mysterious place they call home. Just days after Thomas arrives, a girl shows up offering a dire warning before collapsing without explanation.

The Maze Runner is an edgy dystopian novel that is thrilling!
This book is perfect if you like a tense thriller, and don’t mind a couple of frightening scenes, especially later in the series!
