What’s it about?
Life is boring in that small town of Carp. High School seniors have nothing to do as they await the beginning of college, except Panic. The risky game with a cash prize big enough to change anyone’s life. When the game gets a little too dangerous, the police get involved. Will the game get shut down, or will Panic keep on going? Heather was hesitant from the beginning. After all, people have died in the past. Will she keep playing as the stakes get higher and the challenges riskier?

This books was pretty good, and I almost gave it four stars. I just didn’t love the characters that much, even though the plot and the idea was super unique!
What I loved
This book was really clever! The idea of a game high schoolers play is a fun and unique take on the Hunger Games. The game idea is honestly a fairly underused concept, even though it has a lot of potential. I definitely think Lauren Oliver nailed this plot!
There was a sense of unease and fear (but not in a horror way!) throughout the whole story. Most books don’t do this amount of emotion. This gave the book a perfect mood that fit the plot so well!
What I Disliked
The pacing was a little strange. While I was entertained throughout the book, there were moments where the action felt a little off and didn’t flow the best.
I didn’t love the characters. While they were well-written, I just didn’t really connect to them at all. This made the read less enjoyable for me.
Book vs. Show
There is show for Panic, but I haven’t watched it yet!! If you’ve seen it let me know what you think!
Should You Read It?
Maybe, depending on the types of books you like, you might want to add it to your TBR. If you loved The Hunger Games, this book is probably perfect for you! If you aren’t really into the whole game idea, maybe not. Even so, this book is good for anyone who wants an exciting thriller!

Panic by Lauren Oliver is about a dangerous game graduating high school seniors play to win a big cash prize. The book was pretty good, but I didn’t love the characters, and the pacing was a little weird. The plot was unique and the mood throughout the story was expertly written. There is a show, but I haven’t watched it yet! You should definitely read this book if you like thrillers or The Hunger Games! Happy reading!!!
