A Bookish Girl’s Ponderings – Thursday’s Thoughts: Owning Several Copies of the Same Book

Hello book lovers! Do you own several copies of the same book? I do! Here’s why!

Note: Sorry this post is super late! For some reason the post glitched when publishing and an email notification was sent out, but the post wasn’t actually published!

Different Editions

You know those books that you just adore? Well, when I read those books I like to own them. A couple of them. I sometimes like to own as many different editions too! This could include slightly different covers that no one but you will notice. Or it could even be a special edition copy, which is almost impossible to resist!!

The Display Copy vs. the Reading Copy

All readers know what it’s like to read a new book in fear of damaging the spine, bending a page, or just damaging the book in general. This can be extremely problematic when you reading one of your favorite books ever. This is why it’s vital to own a reading copy that you can read without being scared of damaging it, and having a second copy in perfect condition to display!

Why Not?

Well, there are actually a lot of reasons why you shouldn’t own several copies of the same. It’s expensive, takes up space, you really don’t need them, etc, but we shall focus on the “why not.” While this is true, it can be hard to resist! I buy most of my books used, so when I come across a cool copy for only $2-3, it can be tough to say no!

These are my reasons to own several copies of the same book! Do you own multiple copies of the same book too? Let me know in the comments below!
