Hello book lovers! Today’s topic is book tracking! Do you keep track of the books you read? I do! Here’s where I’ll break down my thoughts and preferences on book tracking! Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Book tracking can take many forms! You can use an app, like The StoryGraph or Goodreads, or you can use a paper reading journal! I personally use The StoryGraph, but I’m working on setting up my Goodreads account for reviewing purposes!
Benefits of Book Tracking
You can easily know what you have and haven’t read!! This makes it super easy to quickly reference your TBR and lists of books you’ve read! This is perfect for personal reflection as well as recommending books to others!
With book tracking you can easily write notes and quick reviews! This can be super helpful when trying to understand your reading preferences, and knowing what books to read in the future! Overall, a quick star rating can really help you find your next 5-star read!!
It can be a great way to mark down your favorite quotes! In most paper reading journals and book trackers, there is a section to write down meaningful quotes! I absolutely LOVE a good quote, and I love that quote marking can be a part of book tracking!
Book tracking apps will often give you personalized recommendations! I’ve these recommendations to be awesome, and I’m always looking for new books to add to my TBR!! For me personally, I love this feature!
Book tracking apps are a great way to set reading goals! You can join reading challenges with other members of the community, and you can set goals for the year! I love that The StoryGraph lets you set a number of books, pages, and minutes goal for the year! It’s also super nice because it tells you exactly how far ahead or behind you are!
And if none of those reasons convinced you maybe this one will! It’s fun! It’s honestly just a lot of fun to see what you’ve read, look at your reading stats, and see what other books people are reading!
Drawbacks of Book Tracking
It takes time. Book tracking can take as little or as much time as you choose! For me, I absolutely love book tracking, which means I spend more time doing it! For some people, this can be a drawback because they just want to read their books in peace!
Other than that, I’m not really sure what other drawbacks of book tracking are! Overall, I think that this practice is great and super important!! What are your thoughts on book tracking? Share them below!
